Always plenty of saps to join in the fun, ….

….keeping the people mollified with bread….

….and circuses, ….

….leaving them exhausted from insatiable materialist appetites:

The Emperor contemplates his legacy….

….and “hangs” with the only folks who won’t put a rope around his neck:

Newman lives:

Warped state reasoning- a pretty rag will replace a father:

What to do? Charge ahead or let sleeping dogs lie?

Throughout the animal kingdom, liberty lovers object to Johnny Law and the mainstream media:

New York thugs-with-badges need some holiday overtime, so………Voila!:

Land of the Rescue….

….and Home of the Bailout:

The magic of democracy- Iraq will now belong to Iraqis “as long as the river still flows and the grass still grows:”

Armed with smiles and reassured by an ignorant public, a new reign of terror is set to begin:

The newest gangsters-in-the-house show themselves off:

Welcome back. The place just isn’t the same without a Kennedy crook prowling the hallways:

Gather ’round, children. Get the young’s attention….

….and fascinate them with the tools of war…

….to inspire service and sacrifice:

Gitmo to be closed? Let’s find some other primates to lock up:

Got my eyes on you. Even thugs need an amusing diversion:

It’s the only life they’ve known. The insurgency starts young:

Pull over and we’ll talk. Just your friendly neighborhood jackboot walking his beat:

A sign of events to come?:

The harvest is good for Obama:

Now that the election is over and the sheep have been penned, it’s time to mark the supporters and dissenters:

With the gang wars over (for now), all the state’s children will be begging for goodies on Santa Obamas’ knee:

Future terrorists:

Vote or Die- the state IS life:

Swear allegiance and/or Die.   The state IS life:

Don’t they ever learn? The Lemmings insist on being taken to the cleaners still another year:

Change? Despite a new American Emperor, expect more tears in Iraq:

The Messiah has been delivered! Now, just watch the world transform and the miracles occur!:

Go figure. The election of a Man with Melanin creates emotional upheaval. People are strange:

Who’s first to get whacked? The new Gangsters-in-Chiefs point out their first hits:

If the man is so popular, why does he need this kind of protection?

Delouse yourself. Washing off the stench of the state can be difficult for peace loving anarchists:

There’s nothing more squirrel-y than an exuberant patriot:

These days, even Barney is tense at the White House:

Time to sacrifice the sheep for Obama:

Keys legend Captain Tony Tarracino dies at 92 | MiamiHerald.com

When I was a kid my dad’s favorite pass-times were diving and playing pool for beers/money while telling and listening to tall tales.  He use to drag me along to some pretty interesting dives so that my mother would think that he wasn’t getting into any big trouble.  One of my favorite places was when on our lobster gathering treks to The Keys we would end up at Captain Tony’s for the late afternoons.  The “salt of the earth” oozed from the man’s skin and I could sit and listen to him tell stories for hours.  The local guitar pickers were always good too.  The man was the last of a breed and will be missed.

He inspired me in many ways including my column Gumption http://www.strike-the-root.com/52/davis/davis3.html.

May he rest in peace.  I believe that he’d want any and all to raise a glass of beer and give a good cheer to celebrate his long, eventful life today.  I know I will as I put on some Jimmy Buffet music, shoot a game of pool and wax nostalgic this evening.
