Gun Controlled to Death

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Football player Sean Taylor was admired locally a great deal as he was arguably the best football player to play for the Washington Redskins football team in the last decade. A point of his murder naturally missed by the Washington Post and the local radio sportstalk is that he had little chance of defending himself, facing gun wielding killers with a machete as he was trying to obey the authorities order that he not possess a firearm after a criminal conviction. Naturally, the chronically obtuse like sports columnist John Feinstein and local talk host Al Koken were arguing for even more law abiding people to have their firearms taken away in the name of “doing something.”

My condolences to his family. In a state more just than Florida, his daughter might still have a living father.

Guilty- Of Shining Too Much Light on the Darkness

Word gets out that the US military has been holding an AP photographer, Balil Hussein, without charges for more than 19 months! They plan to pursue charges against him in an Iraqi court. Criminals trying criminals? It could only be possible during the absurdity of war.

What’s just as outrageous is the fact that Mr. Hussein’s prosecutors will not disclose the evidence against him, nor even the accusations. This, of course, makes it impossible to plan a defense.  Mr. Hussein must be so thankful for the US gift of democracy.

I think I can guess the charges against Mr. Hussein:

Note: All the photos linked above are those of Balil Hussein.

Bombs for Brats

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

If you’re looking for something to raise your blood pressure take some time to peruse the website for the US Marine’s Toys for Tots program. You should have no trouble identifying the rank hypocrisy and chilling propaganda that exists in a program carried out by those who willingly kill children- at least in other countries (for now).

The Marines can prattle all they want about sending “a message of hope to needy youngsters” and working toward “uniting the community” but the reality is the that the purpose of this phony charity is two-fold:

1) Exculpate the Marine’s guilt of killing children and other innocents during their dutiful maintenance and expansion of the American Empire, while creating the deception that an organization of highly trained, state-sponsored killers is a positive force in the world.

2) Condition the very young into the entitlement mentality that if life becomes unfair (in this case, not getting a toy for Christmas) the state will be there to make amends- primarily by way of handsome, strapping young men wearing clean, bright uniforms. How cool is that? I want to be one of those guys, someday!

How can I take seriously a child‘s charity, not only run by hired killers, but that claims that “children are one of our nation’s most valuable resources?” So where exactly do children rank on this list of resources- somewhere between a lump of coal and a pool of oil, perhaps? Or is the answer more obvious- as fodder to throw at the state’s enemy de jour?

I honestly don’t know whether the Marines have a Toys for Tots program in occupied countries, such a Iraq or Afghanistan. Calling the program “Bombs for Brats” or “Bomblets for Babies” or “Mines for Moppets” or “Kluster Bombs for Kids” may be a bit harsh, though appropriate. How about “Limbs for Lambs”?

Footnote: As we witness the increased militarization of civilian police forces, let’s hope we don’t see the creation of an auxiliary organization of T for T- “Tasers for Tots.”

Your tax dollars at work:

Remember, if it wasn’t for veterans we all would be speaking German/Japanese/Korean/Russian/Vietnamese/Arabic, praying to Allah, riding camels instead of cars, and obeying the orders of Hitler’s grandson:

Another look at the Constitution, perhaps? “Dad-gummit, it says right here, that little trip of mine to Vietnam was illegal.”

You Reap What You Sow

Why should Bush’s “conscience” bother him? These are willing volunteers who have pledged their lives to the nation state. They are nothing less than his partners in crime. Did a single individual voice his displeasure with his master’s policy? Why should their humble acquiescence cause him to reconsider his decisions?

These men and women are a tyrant’s dream! They have willingly forfeited their natural right to self ownership and handed over the future of their lives and limbs to one who is perceived as wiser than they. They are influenced by platitudinous, nationalistic rhetoric and convinced by carefully crafted state propaganda. How could any playground bully or gang leader not be inspired and reassured by such a lot?

The suffering of his willing servants will not cause a tyrant to reflect, it will only confirm (to him) the legitimacy of his crimes. Witnessing the close-up, in-your-face misery of the innocents and their desperate screams for justice is the only hope to restore a demented mind and lost soul.

Resistance is Futile

Police thugs have come up with a new technique to overpower protestors- pulling off their protective goggles and then spraying pepper spray in their face.

What’s next- tearing off protestor’s clothes before firing water cannons and rubber bullets into their soft bodies?
