Freepers Creepers

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Cindy Sheehan, clearly disgusted by the ignorance and apathy that increasingly characterizes the American people’s attitudes toward the mass sacrifice of their sons and daughters in pursuit of their government’s wholesale slaughter of foreigners, has resigned as the “public face” of the peace movement.

Kristinn Taylor of the neoconservative war-mongering web site Free Republic.com chipped in her two cents with this insightful comment to the Associated Press on one of the few people in this country to actually stand up and say she gives a damn:

“Her politics have hurt a lot of people, including the troops and their families, but most of us who support the war on terror understand she is hurt very deeply,” Taylor said Tuesday. “Those she got involved with in the anti-war movement realize it was to their benefit to keep her in that stage of anger.” [Emphasis mine.]

Bravo, Rosie!

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Rosie O’Donnell has again defied MSM speech guidelines by accurately identifying American soldiers in Iraq as terrorists. The MSNBC hacks follow Rosie’s comments with the usual lame argument of “attack the policy, not the troops.” That is, “they’re only following orders so they are above criticism or accountability.” Where does this nonsensical argument come from?

A mafia hit man murders an adversary. Using the above argument, this individual is immune to criticism or personal responsibility. After all, he was only following the orders of his mob superiors. What gives the state (and its agents) the license and moral distinction to kill without accountability?

Sorry, Harry Can’t Come Out and Play

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

The decision has been made by the British Army not to send Prince Harry to fight in Iraq.

“There have been a number of specific threats, some reported and some not reported, that relate directly to Prince Harry as an individual. These threats exposed him and those around him to a degree of risk I considered unacceptable.”

It can be argued that a Prince of the British throne would be at great risk as a specific target in any theater of battle. Why should the man even bother being a member of the military? Obviously, military training by descendants of the throne is simply a spectacle to marvel the masses and give relevance to the monarchy.

This decision by the army should relieve the concerns of supporters and servants of the British Crown.

Fly Action

This jewel struck me as funny this morning at first: Study hints that fruit flies have free will…

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18684016/?GT1=9951

The fact that animals, including flies and especially men, think for themselves and can formulate independent action seems to elude many “scientists”.  Studying flies to see how men think?  It seems to me that they would be better served by reading von Mises’ Human Action.  Perhaps they are trying to figure out how to biologically ”trigger a response” from people who have “indeterministic behavior”?  That could be useful when herding the sheeple.

“The epitomes of indeterministic behavior are humans, who are very flexible. Flies are somewhere in between the extremes with a large set of very inflexible and rather predictable behaviors, with spontaneity only coming to the fore if either you look very closely or provide the animals with a situation where the spontaneity is easy to study — that is, when you remove all the stimuli which could trigger a response.”

Perhaps humans and flies are more alike than I first thought, hmmm…

So Many Names, So Little Room

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

“Congress already has run out of space on a memorial created last year to honor all of the U.S. service members killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

The War Congress is running out of room to place the names of the dead at its makeshift memorial in the Rayburn Office Building. I would suggest permanent placement on the halls of the building for future visitors to peruse. Perhaps, instead of names, the social security numbers of the fallen can be listed. That should take up less space on the structure and allow more victims (oops, heroes) to be added. Now if only we could mandate that names of innocent Iraqis and Afghans be listed, as well. How much space would then be necessary?

The idea of placing names of the war dead on memorials is coming back to haunt the architects of state-sponsored destruction. The viewer gets a better sense of the reality that war is not heroic sacrifice but rather an endless chronology of personal heartache, death and misery.

Bureaucrats, $1B - Veterans, oh well

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

It’s because the senior officials did such a good job! ( Are veterans really expecting to be cared for by the government?)

“Washington - Congressional leaders on Thursday demanded that the Veterans Affairs secretary explain hefty bonuses for senior department officials involved in crafting a budget that came up $1 billion short and jeopardized veterans’ health care.”
