Comfort For the ‘Greatest Generation’

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Associated Press reports, “Historical documents and records indicate U.S. authorities permitted the official brothel system to operate despite internal reports that women were being coerced into prostitution.”

“Sadly, we police had to set up sexual comfort stations for the occupation troops,” recounts the official history of the Ibaraki Prefectural Police Department, whose jurisdiction is just northeast of Tokyo.

Perhaps, the troops were merely practicing for the baby boom they would soon create in America.  I wonder if Tom Brokaw writes about this in his books?

The Feds are Closing in on Ed Brown

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Here’s a chilling letter that state marshal Stephen R. Monier sent to Ed Brown.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brown:

Proceedings in the U.S. District Court have now concluded. You have been convicted of felony offenses against the United States, and have now been sentenced to a period of confinement in the United States Bureau of Prisons. This is now a matter for the U.S. Marshals Service and their law enforcement partners.

As you both know, there are outstanding warrants for your arrests. To date, you have made statements threatening law enforcement if attempts are made to serve those warrants. This creates a public safety concern for the community and subjects both you, and anyone who may be assisting you with this obstruction of justice, to further prosecution.

Until they are served, these warrants are not going away, and neither is law enforcement. The United States Marshals Service has maintained an open line of communication with both of you. We have, and will continue to take, all reasonable steps to resolve this peacefully. But, in order to remedy the situation you have placed yourselves in, without subjecting yourselves to further liability, here is what you need to do:

1. Contact us to make arrangements, and

2. Surrender peacefully to the United States Marshals Service.

You have my assurance that you will be treated professionally, with courtesy and respect. This is the right thing for you to do, and I encourage you to do it.

Sincerely,Stephen R. Monier United States Marshal

Brown is steadfastly promising not to give up the loot. This letter from the government is utterly predictable and so much the more sad for it. The only way I can see any conflict being prevented is if there’s enough public opposition to this move by the marshal and the federal government. Let’s hope that whatever happens, Ed and his wife are safe and sound, and no one else gets hurt.

“Raped By the State”

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

…”the routine mistreatment of children by the Youth Commission has long been ignored. ” - Randal Chance, retired inspector general, Texas Youth Commission and author.

Incarcerated juvenile males report sexual abuse by top administrators. This goes way beyond “mistreatment.”

Isn’t It About Time We Had War Plane Control?

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Just in case you haven’t heard:

A pilot with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels died Saturday when his plane crashed into a South Carolina neighborhood during an air show, authorities said.

The six members of the elite demonstration team were in the process of forming its trademark Delta triangle formation when one of the F/A-18 Hornet jets crashed, a Blue Angels spokesman said. Eight people on the ground were injured.

I say it’s high time we propose a law prohibiting the U.S. Navy’s access to war planes. Hey, we just need to keep them out of the wrong hands, that’s all.

The Virginia Tech Tragedy and Statist Hypocrisy

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

To those who are using the mainstream media as their platform in calling for ever greater gun control legislation in the wake of the awful massacre at Virginia Tech, I’d like to ask where their outrage was when cops shot to death the totally innocent and unarmed Derek J. Hale? Of course, that injustice barely received any national attention at all, save for a few conscientous bloggers. I don’t recall any loud calls from the pro-gun control folks demanding greater control over the government police’s use of guns.

Let’s be clear about who would get to control the guns in a state of total “gun control”: Government bureaucrats and mentally ill malconents like Cho Seung-Hui, though gun control proponents seem to be wholly oblivious to this. It’s almost as if they think gun control laws are magical incantations that would make all violent behavior disappear in a puff of smoke. Americans’ choices of how to protect themselves and their property would ultimately be subject to the approval of the George W. Bushes and the Hillary Clintons and their fellow sycophantic, boot-licking parasites.

I wonder when we can reasonably expect to ever hear a mass popular demand to permanently disarm the president of the United States? Don’t hold your breath. Gun control proponents would rather have us all subjected to the increasingly violent whims of government enforcers and lawless criminals (if I may be permitted to be a bit redundant).

UPDATE: Be sure to check out this Wikipedia article and this blog entry on how a deranged gunman was subdued at another Viriginia school back in 2002. They’re both linked on today’s STR homepage, beneath the link to an article on Virginia Tech’s 2006 campus ban on guns—a ban that proved to be enormously useful to Cho Seung-Hui.

Left and Right: The Prospects for Coherence

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

When pondering the odious bloviating of the various talking heads of the statist “left” and the statist “right”—the court “intellectuals,” the “activists,” the “pundits,” etc.—I often ask myself: “When these supposedly ‘opposing sides’ engage in their ‘disagreements,’ are they sincerely unaware of just how ideologically compatible they really are with one another, or are they being deliberately disengenous? Are they, A.) Actually that dense with a lifetime of statist conditioning that they really don’t realize they’re merely arguing over technical details that in the final analysis are largely irrelevant, or are they B.) Consciously collaborating to perpetrate a massive hoax on the masses?” I tend to lean toward A.), as B.) smacks a little too much of conspiracy theory for my taste, but you never know.

Case in point:

Earlier today, I found in my e-mail in-box a blurb from FrontPageRag.com, the pro-warfare state propaganda site of David Horowitz, the commie left-winger-turned-commie right-winger whose cheerleading for death and destruction truly knows no rational boundaries. I’m not quite sure how I got on his distribution. I have visited the site on occasion out of morbid curiosity, but I don’t recall actually subscribing to any e-mail list.

Government 50 Years Ago and Today

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Here’s a funny explanation of how far our government’s willing to invade our lives. The responses are mostly fictional, but as always, the humor works because it’s based in truth.
