Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been sentenced to mopping floors for five days in an assault case. How does this compensate the maid who was harmed? It doesn’t.  Nothing about the “just us” system is just. Only in a free society would a harmed person actually be compensated by the one who committed the assault. Instead, this working maid pays taxes in support of this judge, his minions and toadies - this crap called “justice.”

The sick s & m freaks of government think humiliation is justice, as long as they are the beneficiaries, naturally. Unfortunately they have the guns to enforce their sick thinking.

Is this really going to discourage other media princesses from abusing employees? Will this teach Naomi anything except how to avoid getting caught? I think a sock in the wallet would be a better wake up call than humiliation. As a paid body in front of a camera, I think she’s probably already experienced plenty of humiliation and it hasn’t helped her mature.

I’m surprised the unionized sanitation workers don’t object to being supplanted. They would, but they’ll probably get paid to sit and watch NC do the labor.

I finally saw The Road to Guantanamo tonight on DVD. I imagine many who are reading this have already seen it since its release last year. If you haven’t, you really should.

It’s the true story of a group of three young English Muslims who went to Pakistan for a wedding, and while there got the crazy idea to take a trip to Afghanistan just as the U.S. and Britain were preparing their assault on that already war-battered country. Uncle Sam’s purportedly noble allies in that pointless war, the Northern Alliance, detained them along with thousands of other innocent bystanders and claimed they were Taliban or al-Qaeda fighters. (Of course, considering that Uncle Pimp Daddy was paying them to do this, it’s not surprising that anyone who looked at the NA funny was ipso facto “al-Qaeda.”) The film then follows them to Guantanamo Bay’s Camp X-Ray, and then Camp Delta, where they were routinely beaten and tortured for not signing the confession papers.

That’s the tax dollars of Boobus Americanus at work. I wonder if one day my wife and son and I will be blown to bits in downtown Chicago because one of Uncle Sam’s victims will have become so crazed for vengeance that he’ll decide the blood of any Americans will do, especially after having heard so many Americans mindlessly repeat that ever popular refrain of political democracy: “We are the government.”

WASHINGTON, Feb. 28 — Last October, the North Koreans tested their first nuclear device, the fruition of decades of work to make a weapon out of plutonium.

For nearly five years, though, the Bush administration, based on intelligence estimates, has accused North Korea of also pursuing a secret, parallel path to a bomb, using enriched uranium. That accusation, first leveled in the fall of 2002, resulted in the rupture of an already tense relationship: The United States cut off oil supplies, and the North Koreans responded by throwing out international inspectors, building up their plutonium arsenal and, ultimately, producing that first plutonium bomb.

But now, American intelligence officials are publicly softening their position, admitting to doubts about how much progress the uranium enrichment program has actually made. The result has been new questions about the Bush administration’s decision to confront North Korea in 2002.
