The Virginia Tech Tragedy and Statist Hypocrisy
To those who are using the mainstream media as their platform in calling for ever greater gun control legislation in the wake of the awful massacre at Virginia Tech, I’d like to ask where their outrage was when cops shot to death the totally innocent and unarmed Derek J. Hale? Of course, that injustice barely received any national attention at all, save for a few conscientous bloggers. I don’t recall any loud calls from the pro-gun control folks demanding greater control over the government police’s use of guns.
Let’s be clear about who would get to control the guns in a state of total “gun control”: Government bureaucrats and mentally ill malconents like Cho Seung-Hui, though gun control proponents seem to be wholly oblivious to this. It’s almost as if they think gun control laws are magical incantations that would make all violent behavior disappear in a puff of smoke. Americans’ choices of how to protect themselves and their property would ultimately be subject to the approval of the George W. Bushes and the Hillary Clintons and their fellow sycophantic, boot-licking parasites.
I wonder when we can reasonably expect to ever hear a mass popular demand to permanently disarm the president of the United States? Don’t hold your breath. Gun control proponents would rather have us all subjected to the increasingly violent whims of government enforcers and lawless criminals (if I may be permitted to be a bit redundant).
UPDATE: Be sure to check out this Wikipedia article and this blog entry on how a deranged gunman was subdued at another Viriginia school back in 2002. They’re both linked on today’s STR homepage, beneath the link to an article on Virginia Tech’s 2006 campus ban on guns—a ban that proved to be enormously useful to Cho Seung-Hui.

Gun control advocates follow the statist mindset - if we just past enough laws, soon all bad things will cease to happen.

The other benefit of passing enough laws is when you do so, everyone becomes an outlaw.

Rules forbidding guns on the VT campus didn’t help anybody. If those rules didn’t exist, then perhaps there would have been fewer victims. There surely would not have been any more.
