When pondering the odious bloviating of the various talking heads of the statist “left” and the statist “right”—the court “intellectuals,” the “activists,” the “pundits,” etc.—I often ask myself: “When these supposedly ‘opposing sides’ engage in their ‘disagreements,’ are they sincerely unaware of just how ideologically compatible they really are with one another, or are they being deliberately disengenous? Are they, A.) Actually that dense with a lifetime of statist conditioning that they really don’t realize they’re merely arguing over technical details that in the final analysis are largely irrelevant, or are they B.) Consciously collaborating to perpetrate a massive hoax on the masses?” I tend to lean toward A.), as B.) smacks a little too much of conspiracy theory for my taste, but you never know.

Case in point:

Earlier today, I found in my e-mail in-box a blurb from FrontPageRag.com, the pro-warfare state propaganda site of David Horowitz, the commie left-winger-turned-commie right-winger whose cheerleading for death and destruction truly knows no rational boundaries. I’m not quite sure how I got on his distribution. I have visited the site on occasion out of morbid curiosity, but I don’t recall actually subscribing to any e-mail list.

In any case, the diatribe in question was an excerpt from the site’s blog. The subject line of the e-mail read “Palestinian Nazis and Nancy Pelosi.” It began with a quote of a spokesman for Hamas, Dr. Ismail Radwan, who allegedly said on Palestinian Authority TV recently:

“The Hour [Resurrection] will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews and the Muslims kill them, and the rock and the tree will say: Oh, Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, kill him!’”

Horowitz then goes on a vitriolic spiel castigating Nancy Pelosi for having recently paid a “friendly call on the dictator of Damascus who hosts, protects and arms these genocidal jihadis.” He gnashes his teeth over the fact that so many of his fellow Jews contribute to the Democratic party, and why aren’t they and other Democratic donors raising a big ruckus over “their Party’s collusion with our contemporary Hitlers”? Yes, he actually referred to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as a “Hitler.” Just when you think the Hitler analogy has finally been played into the friggin’ ground until it has been totally smashed into dust, leave it to Horowitz to resurrect the spectre of Der Fuhrer in a pathetically transparent play for a knee-jerk emotional response.

Oh, and it gets better–

“They are preparing the next war to see that the Jews are dead. And they will not rest until they complete the final solution or until they are stopped.”

“They” including not only the Syrian government, but their fellow “Hitlers,” Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iranian government, or the “Nazi Axis,” as he calls them. I’m not quite sure how Horowitz came across this bit of intelligence on this massive conspiracy to inititate a new Holocaust against the Jews, but he should definitely apply for a job at the Office of Special Plans, or better yet, at the more recently established “Iran Desk.” I’m certain they would find his services invaluable.

Now, allow me, if you will, to turn your attention to the comments Ms. Pelosi recently made to National Public Radio upon her return from her visit with Adolf al-Assad (emphasis mine):

“It was our purpose to come here, to have a clear message to all of the countries that we’re interested in peace in the Middle East, with Israel; to go to Damascus and say to President Assad the same message that President Bush has for him. While we may disagree on whether we should have a trip to Damascus, there’s no division in our views and the case that we made to him.”

Bush and I essentially agree on Syria, says Pelosi. For Pelosi and Bush to agree on foreign policy is really not all that surprising, considering that her and her fellow Democrats’ recent military appropriations bill that supposedly sets a timetable for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq in reality does no such thing, and they eliminated a provision that would have required Bush to seek congressional approval before attacking Iran. If she’s really in “collusion” with this “Nazi Axis” Horowitz speaks of, she makes one hell of a lousy collaborator. Future Axises of Evils take note.

Interestingly, interviewer Robert Siegel told Pelosi that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s office told NPR that Israel continued to regard Syria “as part of the axis of evil and a party encouraging terrorism in the entire Middle East.” But Pelosi insisted that’s not what Olmert told her in person:

“What he told us was that the thrust of his statement is that Israel is prepared to go to the negotiating table; we are not preparing for war — that was the important part of it — we are not preparing for war; we’re prepared to go to negotiation when Syria takes steps to stop its support of Hamas and Hezbollah.

“…Actually, Prime Minister Olmert — his office is the one who put out the idea that we would be taking a message in the first place, because we had a meeting with the prime minister.”

So what the hell, Horowitz? Nancy Pelosi, supposedly a pawn of Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah, et. al, obediently conveyed a message to the Syrians at the Israelis’ request, message being that Olmert is a “man of peace” —that must have provoked some hearty guffaws in al-Assad’s office considering the Israelis’ slaughter of a thousand people in their senseless attack on southern Lebanon last year—and that he’s willing to negotiate with the Syrians, just so long as they stop supporting Hamas and Hezbollah, of course. Meanwhile, Olmert is talking out of the other side of his mouth to the press that Syria is run by a bunch of evil bastards who continue to foment terrorism, an assertion that I’ll bet he made without the slightest indication of irony.

So we find that:

1.) Pelosi and Bush agree that the bulk of the burden of Israeli-Syrian disputes falls on Syria, not Israel, and that

2.) Pelosi acted as a messenger to Syria at Israel’s request, message being that if Syria wants peace, they have to cut off Hamas and Hezbollah.

Pelosi—who according to Horowitz is collaborating with various Middle Eastern “Hitlers” to commit a new genocide against the Jews—appears to have taken everything Olmert said to her at face value, and furthermore, Pelosi never once suggested in the above cited interview that Israel should have to give up anything. While Pelosi doesn’t use the “Hitler” analogy or any of the other shrill, emotionally-laden Horowitzisms, clearly she and Horowitz basically agree.

So what the f**k is Horowitz yammering about Pelosi being this tool of Israel’s enemies? Looks more to me like she’s been extremely willing to be a tool of the Israelis. Is Horowitz basically suggesting that only a neocon Republican Bushite, handpicked by the Dear Leader himself, would be the only qualified person to act as Ehud Olmert’s carrier pigeon??? Is that the whole point of his otherwise pointless and misinformed spew of bile???

It’s pretty hard to tell what the hell Horowitz is suggesting. Either he’s the political blogosphere’s equivalent of a crazy homeless guy screaming an endless stream of non-sequiters to passersby in the subway, or he’s part of a broader Machiavellian operation to fool Americans into thinking that there’s a single dime’s worth of difference between Republicans and Democrats.
