The Internal Contradictions of Your State-Capitalist System Are Showing

“We are aware and sympathetic…100,000 people being stranded is extraordinary,” Tierney said. “But the role is clear, it’s a regulator’s role and you have to enforce the regulations. We understand the disruption this causes, but (the airlines) had 18 months to complete the work.”

i’m not sympathetic. those people shouldn’t be trying to travel. i mean, do they have a permit for that?

but really, thank goodness the FAA does their job. it’d suck to let those airlines fly their unmaintained airplanes into the ground, which is, of course, what they would do!

Right. You just know those greedy for-profit bastards would like nothing more than to see all their planes go down in flames and kill all their customers!

Of course, it should also be pointed out that many airlines embrace the FAA since it restricts competition and keeps fares higher than they otherwise would be. It would be interesting to see which ones were NOT grounded by the FAA and how well they did while all their competitors were being tied down.
