"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
US Warns Countries Against Snowden Travel
And, since Barak Obama and Eric Holder, contrary to what they may believe, don't rule the world, their warnings and requests haven't amounted to much. Despite revoking Snowden's passport, Snowden left Hong Kong, went to Russia, and is said to be headed for asylum in Ecuador, by way of Cuba, then Venezuela – all of which were directly asked by the US to deny entry. Reuters is using phrases like “a major embarrassment for President Barack Obama,” noting that the countries were “willing to snub the American president,” describing the actions of the nations aiding Snowden's movement as “a slap to Washington's efforts.” I'm glad to see nations great and small basically flipping Obama and Holder the bird.
