"First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me."

U.S. Vice President Biden Stands Firm in Latin America Drug Debate
Submitted by Sharon Secor on Thu, 2012-03-08 02:00
“U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said in Mexico Monday that he was open to joining a growing Latin American debate about legalizing illicit drugs, but only to show that a change of policy would not work.” It wouldn't work for the United States government because it stands to lose too much in terms of money and power via legalization. The erosion of rights was justified by the Drug War before the War on Terror. Indeed, the elimination of the rights of the people probably has been worth more to the State than the economic benefits of current drug policy.
