"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
The Threatening Scent of Fertile Women
(NYT, Free Reg. Req.)“The fascinating thing about this time is that it flies under the radar of consciousness,” says Martie Haselton, a psychologist at U.C.L.A. “Women and men are affected by ovulation, but we don’t have any idea that it is what is driving these substantial changes in our behavior. It makes it clear that we’re much more like other mammals than we thought.” A great read, thought provoking, interesting, and – for a change – has something positive to say about men and their natural/innate behavioral inclinations. So much of what we see and read today is so male negative… It was refreshing to see this study and its results.
