The Stupid Technology Decision That Ended Nixon's Presidency

Nixon's White House voice recording system differed from that of earlier presidents in one key respect; they had to be manually activated by the President himself, but Nixon's, at his request, came on automatically. After a time, he largely forgot about it recording everything anyone said. As is often said, it's only the stupid crooks that get caught.
