Recipe for Victory: Food and Cooking in Wartime

I’m telling you right now, this is totally, totally awesome. You should see some of the titles of the (full text posted) cookbooks and other publications in this collection. Among them, Camouflage Cookery, A Book of Mock Dishes (from 1918), Thrift for Troubled Times (1917, page 75 has a recipe called War Prisoners’ Bread, page 12 has directions for a fireless cooker or hay box, to conserve cooking fuel… and today’s green squad thinks they invented it all, sigh), Victory Breads (from 1918), Everyday Foods in War Time (1918, packed with fascinating propaganda and some excellent recipes), and so much more.
