The Real Story Behind the Myth of Area 51

The U.S. military needed a spacious and isolated area to work on aerospace technology and weapons research. Area 51 in the Nevada desert was an abandoned WW2 training facility that fit the bill. Okay so far? However, when you misinform, lie, and act all secretive, the nut-bar types come out the woodwork (or today the web) and fabricate insanely implausible theories about what’s really going on out there. Bottom line: People make their own 'fake news' when the gov lies to them.
