"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Obama Making Same Mistakes That Lengthened Great Depression
A monograph by two economists notes "troubling similarities" between current administration policies and those which deepened and lengthened the depression of the 1930s. (It takes a professional economist to see this'). One of the authors (quoted here and elsewhere) adds that "It is also not impossible that the US will experience the kind of economic collapse from first to Third World status experienced by Argentina under the national-socialist governance of Juan Peron." Nobel-Prize-Winning economist James Buchanan (no, not commentator Pat Buchanan) has endorsed the monograph.
