"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
The FBI's Right to Threaten Torture
Submitted by John deLaubenfels on Sat, 2007-10-27 15:00
"The initial [Abdallah] Higazy arrest and release were landmarks showing how far feds would go to gin up evidence and headlines for the war on terror. The fact that the FBI approved of its agent's methods--and the fact that a federal judge saw no problem with the interrogation--are further warning signs of constitutional decay. Keep your eyes on this case, because it could help determine how far feds can go to destroy innocent people." By James Bovard.
