New Jersey Bans Death Penalty

""Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed into law Monday a measure that abolishes the death penalty, making New Jersey the first state in more than four decades to reject capital punishment." Though I reserve judgment of a bill the particulars of which I don't know, at least it appears that the New Jersey government now has a little less power than before--and a monopoly power to punish murder with murder is the most heinous of all."
