"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Microsoft Pressing Ahead with Lawsuit on U.S. Spying Orders
“Microsoft said Friday that it will carry on with litigation to reveal more details about secret U.S. surveillance demands, after the company said negotiations with the government failed to reach an “agreement acceptable to all.”” Basically, Microsoft, Google, et al feel maligned, that they've unjustly suffered a loss in public opinion, that they were bullied into complying by the government and now people hate them for it. They think it is unfair, that they had no choice. Well, actually they did have a choice, the same choice you and I face every day – to comply or resist. Makes me think of a line from one of my favorite songs, Get Up by the Coup and Dead Prez, “you better choose your side.” They made their choice, just like we do, and just like you and I do, they have to live with the consequences.
