"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken

Only because we allow it to be so. Non-compliance isn't an easy path, and long time readers know that I've given up a lot to honor that principle, and risked even more. Right is right and wrong is wrong. We are born free or we aren't. If we don't behave as though we own the rights we are born with, they will be taken. Start small, rip the tags off of pillows and mattresses. See how good that feels? Pretty soon you'll be asking yourself just why is it that I should ask permission and pay a fee to buy my own materials, do my own labor to make an improvement on a home that I own? You'll be questioning laws and wondering just why you've felt obligated to be obedient to liars, thieves, thugs, and murderers. And, more importantly, how you came to doubt your ability and right to rule yourself.
