"Legal drugs have just as many health risks as the illegal ones. Sometimes even more. By focusing on too many of the societal consequences you can skew the view of those you are trying to convince. And that could lead to tragedy."

"Drug abuse" is a legal term, not a medical one. By labeling all illegal drugs "drugs of abuse," the drug warriors have succeeded in labeling all users "drug abusers," less than human, our lives not worth living and therefore suitable for destruction.
And actually, there's a huge difference between legal drugs and illegal ones -- legal drugs don't list "paranoia" and "a criminal record" as possible side effects.
