"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
IRS Says Breastfeeding Expenses Are Tax Write-Offs. Finally.
I’ve nursed each and every one of my children well past the pathetically short time recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, preferring to use the global weaning age and child led weaning as my guide points. As a strong supporter of breast feeding, I find this utterly ridiculous on a variety of levels. Why are we discussing our baby feeding choices with the government? Why are we negotiating with the government about keeping what we earn, using any and every reason or justification, no matter how personal? Are tax write offs really going to make a difference in how often we do what is best for our children? Have we really come to the point that such choices are affected by whether or not we have some sort of financial incentive from the government?
