"Ahead of the bypoll, over 90 licensed gun owners in Saharanpur have been issued notices to surrender their weapons with immediate effect to the district police. "People have started surrendering their weapons already. The notices were issued two days ago," said a senior police officer. The last date for depositing weapons is August 27. "During the election, each licensed weapon will be kept in the strong room of police stations," said the officer."
