"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken

Like with all practical arts, this info is good to know. But a rifle is sort of like a fire extinguisher or a first aid kit; you may never need to use it, but when/if you do, you need to have it immediately. Won't be time for digging it out of the backyard in the middle of night in February during a snowstorm. When things get this bad I'll be burying IEDs instead. Gold coins, documents, ammo, scarce medicines, high $ value, or politically forbidden items, okay. Immediate access isn't as big of a factor with them.
Yeh! I've considered this but it is more work than it is worth.
