Gun Restrictions Have Always Bred Defiance, Black Markets

The restrictions and more restrictions until confiscation arrives will solve exactly nothing. Each year the Department of Jusstice comes out with their reprots regarding firearms and crime and they consistantly report that states with the least restrictive gun laws the crime rate nearly disappearss. When stricter gun laws are passed it results in more crime than before. Simply put, criminals have a strong fear of an armed public.
It will make no difference how many studies come out proving that more guns less crime, less guns more crime. it is an issue of control, power. For a legislator to have that deep down sense of satisfaction that they can tell you what you can have, when you can have is and where you can have it and etc. Power, power, power and control.
Quietly setting on the fence merely permits these events to occur again and again. This too will probably pass, onky it is worse than the last one, I know they have their eye on bolt action rifles because they can be classified a "sniper rifles". Pump action shot guns will go by the way side to but not before the semi-auto shotgun. We might be left with the break apart, single shot, shotgun, maybe.
It is a minority that gets all this stuff pushed through because they are the loudest, meanest, nastiest and most actionable. If the majority became involved this would be stopped in a heart beat.

G'day Glock27,

"If the majority became involved this would be stopped in a heart beat."

No offense, but can you not see that, as it stands, that is a nonsensical statement? What you probably meant is, if the majority thought just as you do, and became involved, this would be stopped in a heartbeat. But I have a bit of bad news for you ol' buddy, they may not, and if that be the case, "[i]f the majority became involved", it would work directly against your desires. This "majority" thing, unless properly tempered[1], can be very dangerous, I hope you can see.

This, as I see it, is where it got derailed...

"Our legislators are not sufficiently apprized of the rightful limits of their power; that their true office is to declare [not create] and enforce only our natural rights . . . and to take none of them from us. No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another; and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him . . . and the idea is quite unfounded, that on entering into society we give up any natural right." ~ Thomas Jefferson in a letter to Francis Gilmer (c.1816)

Unfortunately, my friend, your "majority", (perhaps even you, yourself, if it meant giving up virtually ALL your member-only government benefits), will NEVER go for this.

Greetings Suverans2,
Yeh! I guess I have to concede that. Wish I could arrive at a safe plausable way to loose my firearms without loosing them. It is nearly impossible now to buy a black gun under $2500 and the ammunition for all calibers are diasppearing. Some places that have ammunition are rationing them out.

Perhaps this is a small example of what your "majority" will do in the coming days.

"The line was so long in San Francisco that there was no cash left after lunchtime and I.O.U.s were substituted instead. Oakland’s citizens gave even more guns back, including assault weapons and Ak-47s; the line of people returning guns, which was comprised of those standing and those in cars, was almost two miles long. A limit of three per person was imposed."

I think the crowds chant was, "You can have my FRN's/I.O.U's (both of which are I.O.U's, of course), when you pry my cold, dead fingers off them, OR, when you declare them worthless; whichever comes first."
