"First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me."

Freedom: A Truly Unknown Ideal
Submitted by Westernerd on Thu, 2012-10-11 02:00
"Economic freedom – laissez faire capitalism – is for the young and enterprising, not the rich and powerful. And the latter hate it as much as the socialist utopian. Once you get old and rich, and powerful, cozying up to the state is a much easier way to maintain your wealth than by promoting genuine free competition, which is usually no longer in your interest."
