“A zombie invasion is simply a metaphor for any situation in which the government cannot protect its citizens.” As Hurricane Katrina, the Ferguson riots, the Ebola pandemic, urban wilding attacks, and the Sandy Hook school shooting have all recently shown, the ability or even desire, of the state to protect citizens is more limited than is realized, and people are beginning to grasp that unpleasant fact, even if unconsciously.
