City Stops Residents From Backing Out of Driveways Safely
Submitted by Westernerd on Sat, 2011-10-22 03:00
"Glendaleofficials are forcing residents to take down mirrors they’ve attached to trees in the public right-of-way so they can better see oncoming traffic while exiting their driveways. Residents say in the absence of any speed-reduction enhancements, such as speed humps, the round convex mirrors are one of the few safety measures they have. City officials, though, say it’s about more than tree damage. City codes don’t allow anything to be attached to city-owned trees or street-light poles. Also, nothing can be placed in the public right-of-way because of liability concerns."

"...city-owned trees..."?????????
Hmmmm, I thought if they were on the "public right-of-way", i.e. the "common right-of-way", that they are common property, i.e. everyone owns them. Damaging the bark. [laughing] Then I suppose woodpeckers and squirrels will have to be notified as well.
Driveway safety is comprised of two categories. Preventing your child from being run over as a car is backing out of the driveway. The other is preventing your child from running out into the street while playing in the yard with a driveway safety net. We will now cover each topic individually. Thanks.
