The Cable New Channel Pundits Have Become A Circular Firing Squad

Keith Olberman hates Bill O'Reilly the top rated prime time cable news channel pundit. And the feeling is mutual apparently too. But it sure doesn't effect the high ratings of the Fox News Channel's top dog. So why then? "Cui bono ", any one?

Well, Olberman for one. Since according to the ratings O'Reilly's audience stats are five times higher than Olberman's it kinda makes sense, in a dim sort of way to snap at the ankles of a big dog running by you and hope you slow 'em down some. And we'll see if it works out for Olberman and MSNBC. I doubt it though. After the food fight between O'Reilly and "liberal" funnyman and political commentator Al Franken raised the later's ratings higher than they were before his efforts and attacks, Bill O. has wisely held his fire, which is a rare display of common sense for him, eh?

It seems now that the dead-last pundit in the cable news channel ratings list, ex-GOP congressman Joe Scarborough, is trying to pick a fight with someone farther up the food chain in hopes of pulling a Franken-style ratings boost. His relentless attacks on cable news sleaze (like he should talk) is made by attacking the sleaziness of CNN's Nancy Grace and her dominatrix-like interrogation style of interviewing. A nasty form which is now blamed for the suicide of a criminal suspect too.

And so it goes. Like the Nike ad used to say: Don't believe the hype. Or watch it either for that matter. Go surf the net, find a good book to read, or take a nap. You'll feel better and be better informed. Sheesh.

Life IS much better without televison- particularly when you avoid the noise and nonsense that passes for "news." Your mind stays clearer and focused on individual pursuits and personal values. Remember the truism, "Garbage in, garbage out." I haven't had cable in 20 years- with no regrets. I honestly have never seen Fox News. Don't think I'm missin' much.
