"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H.L. Mencken
Alaskan Town's Police Force Quits; Nobody Seems To Care, The Purge Doesn't Happen
Submitted by A. Magnus on Wed, 2017-08-02 00:00
"The entire police force of Sand Point, Alaska quit in July in a matter of just three weeks, leaving the town without any authoritative presence, and the transition has been smooth without any type of state enforcement agent. Sand Point, an Alaskan island town with a population of about 1,000, had a police force of three officers and a police chief mid-July. That’s when the officers, two of whom were a married couple, began to quit one after the other and then finally the police chief himself resigned."
