International Holocaust Remembrance Day

ukrainian_holocaust.jpgToday, January 27th, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The big question we all need to ask ourselves is which Holocaust?

If you ask the average person on the street about the Holocaust, they will probably say, 'That's when the Nazis gassed six million Jews during World War II.' Most people mistakenly believe that 'the Holocaust' is unique to the Jews.

It's not hard to understand why most people believe the Holocaust is uniquely Jewish. Just think back on your own 'education' at the hands of the state or other institution. Did you ever learn about the Holocaust suffered by the Ukrainian people in which three to seven million people, like the little boy pictured above, were starved to death by the Communist government of the Soviet Union because they refused to give up their land to the Soviet collectivization program? Have you ever seen any Hollywood blockbuster movies about it? Me either.

Even in the Ukraine itself, it seems the Jewish Holocaust is being given more attention than their own Ukrainian Holocaust.

What is the message the politicians, bureaucrats and movie moguls are sending by giving so much attention to 'the Holocaust' of the Jews while virtually ignoring the devastation and mass slaughter of the Ukrainian people? To me, it seems like their message is the Ukrainians and Gentiles don't matter, Jews matter.

Many people refer to World War II as 'the good war.' We are told it was the good war because the Nazis were stopped from slaughtering the Jews and 'taking over the world.'

What about the 14.5 million people our allies the Communists butchered in the Soviet Union and Europe ? Weren't they as valuable as the six million Jews? Why didn't the United States and England go to war against the Soviet Union , which starved to death the three to seven million Ukrainians between 1932 and 1933? Surely, if they were as important as Jews, there would be just as much attention given by world governments and the media as is given to the six million Jews that are said to have perished during World War II.

Many people who take the Bible seriously also believe that Jews are much more important than Gentiles because the Bible says so outright. In Deuteronomy 7:6, we read that God himself said he chose the Jews 'to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.' This makes it pretty clear that Jews matter the most to God. If you believe this Bible claim then you must believe that non-Jews, or Gentiles, are below those who are 'above all people that are upon the face of the earth.' It just stands to reason.

It's interesting to note that the Bible god broke down the value of the Jews themselves in Leviticus 27:3-7, where the Bible god values males between the ages of 20 to 60 years old at 'fifty shekels of silver,' females of the same age at only 30 shekels, male children between one month old and five years at five shekels and little girls of the same age at only three shekels.

This Biblical idea of Jewish superiority has a place in the thinking of all religious Jews. Based on how little concern is shown to the Ukrainian people for the Holocaust they suffered at the hands of the Communists, it appears that those responsible for the production of movies like 'Schindler's List' and 'Holocaust' firmly hold this Biblical position on the value of Jews compared to the little value of Gentiles. It's currently politically incorrect to say that Jews have a disproportionate influence in Hollywood and the media. However, truth is often politically incorrect. I'm thankful for a Jewish writer, Joel Stein. Mr. Stein values truth so much that he wrote a well documented column in the Los Angeles Times about the excessive Jewish representation and control of Hollywood . This column helps us to understand why nothing is made of the Ukrainian Holocaust while much is made in Hollywood and society which Hollywood strongly influences of the Jewish Holocaust.

It's important that all human life is shown the dignity that it deserves, Jew and Gentile. It's time for ancient violence promoting mythology like the Torah, Bible and Koran to be replaced with God-given reason and compassion. Living in a nuclear age is not the time to try and find your moral compass in these ancient and bloody scriptures, which don't even have enough morality to openly speak against slavery. Even the Bible-thumping Israel firster John Hagee admits, 'The Bible is mostly ambiguous about the morality of slavery.' If we can let go of the ancient superstitions, we can finally realize that all people matter.
