I Believe in Common-Sense Too, Obama: I'm Buying More Guns

Exclusive to STR

In an article published on December 8th by the Chicago Sun-Times, Barack Obama was quoted as saying the following: "I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the Second Amendment," Obama said at a news conference. "Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven't indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word."

Well, politicians have lots of words--which they are very quick to forget as soon as they get elected to office. Actions always speak louder, as the axiom goes. And Barack Obama's voting record as an Illinois senator and all the way down through his political career has been as fanatically anti-gun as could ever be. Obama never saw a gun control law he didn't like. But now, as president-elect, he'd like us all to believe differently.

Peter Hamm, spokesman for the so-called Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence, chimed in on Obama's comments as well. In the same Chicago Sun-Times article, responding to the recent unprecedented spike in firearms sales across America, Hamm was quoted as saying that he and his organization regarded such gun buyers as "a bit stupid."

The article quoted Hamm further: "Anyone who thinks they need to rush out and buy a firearm clearly has not been paying attention to how quickly we make progress on this issue. We don't think these are first-time buyers. We think they are people who already have more than enough guns at their homes to protect themselves and are buying more."

I make two observations here: The first is how glad I am that Hamm, Obama, and those of their ilk don't make "progress" on their gun-grabbing agenda very quickly at all. The second is how arrogantly Hamm decides that gun owners have "more than enough." I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want Hamm or Obama or anyone judging for me how many guns and how much ammo I own is "enough."

A few words of my own for Barack Obama if he ever gets around to reading this: I believe in common-sense too, and always have. And common-sense dictates that what people do is always more important than what they say. Further, your stance, as expressed by your past actions, shows even the village idiot that your words are nothing but flat-out lies. A lot of my fellow Vermonters may have voted you into office--because of the ongoing wars, the abysmal economic situation, the loss of civil liberties under Dubya--but needless to say, I wasn't one of them. In fact, I didn't vote at all, and am not even registered to do so. You see, unlike yourself, I don't believe in using my guns, or anyone else's, to control other people's lives and property, just as I don't want my own controlled--by you, or anyone else. But as to those Vermonters who were foolish enough to vote for you, it wasn't because they want gun control. Vermont has a long-standing opposition to that kind of fascism, and we don't beg the government pretty-please if we feel like carrying a concealed weapon, or keeping handguns in our cars, or owning so-called "assault weapons." That's right--we don't get permitted, licensed, or fingerprinted to carry our guns in Vermont--a fact that must just burn you up inside. Having said that, Vermont voters were not only foolish to vote at all in the first place, but even more foolish to believe that you're going to bring the troops home, fix the economy, or repeal the "PATRIOT" Act. You're not going to change any of those things. But if the Democrat-controlled Congress delivers you a passed gun control bill to sign, it's pretty clear you'll be putting your autograph on it. After all, that's the real kind of "change" you keep shouting about, isn't it?

So up your ass with your "word," Obama. Before you plant it at your desk in the Oval Office on January 20th, I'll be the proud new owner of at least an AK-47 or an AR-15, plus probably a .40 caliber automatic pistol with a 15 round magazine capacity. And, I'm buying a few 40 or 50 round after-market magazines for that rifle, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition for both guns, in addition to stocking up for the firearms I already own.

If common-sense has shown me anything, Barack, it's to never, ever trust sociopathic, megalomaniacal, power-seeking, control-freak, fascist bastards like you.
