What Strike The Root Does and Means

Exclusive to STR

In this age of political correctness based on raw fear, STR smashes through the BS, and by doing so undermines the trend towards sacrificing truth for political correctness because its actions destroy, or at least weakens, the fear in many people.

By refusing to support the conservative or the liberal worldviews, and by refusing to stay in the box of political correctness, STR really does strike a blow for freedom and liberty every day! This vital quality is completely lacking in all of the major media outlets. It is desperately needed not only for a healthy society but also for a healthy, sane mind for individuals.

Just one visit to STR makes you realize that they firmly believe in the quote, 'Sacred cows make great hamburger!' Since most sacred cows are not only as hollow as the skull of George W., they also hold back people and society. They set up a no questions mentality that is deadly to real progress. STR corrects that problem.

Before being a regular reader of STR, I tended to hold the US Constitution as a sacred cow. STR helped me realize that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Although I will always be grateful for the Bill of Rights, I now know that the government can do away with them at its will as Lincoln and others did.

The daily news links are invaluable. There are important issues that they cover that the established media either covers by accident or that they actually cover up. I'm starting to be able to tell which ones I can bookmark because they'll be up for awhile, and which ones I need to save to disk and print because they will be pulled very soon!

By doing what it does, STR is truly advancing liberty in a profound way, not the shallow, flag-waving way. A quote from Thomas Jefferson comes to mind when I think of the way STR works: 'For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.'

The legacy of STR will be its teaching through example that fear has no place in a truly free society. No topic is beyond the reach of honest questions and examination no matter what the cost may be. To do otherwise is wrong.

And don't forget to read the daily quotes from Thoreau. They are very thought provoking and uplifting. Like the entire STR site, they really make you think!

Thank you very much for STR! It really means and does a lot!
