Is the Media AIPAC's Ace in the Hole?

When life-long atheist Antony Flew became a Deist, he said he did so because he 'followed the evidence.' This practice and principle of following the evidence wherever it may lead should be employed by everyone and in every aspect of our lives.

When we look at the blind obedience that the overwhelming majority of politicians from both parties give to Israel's lobby group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, we need to ask ourselves, why? And we need to follow the evidence we uncover as we pursue an answer.

Aristotle advised, 'Let us first understand the facts, and then we may seek the cause.' The facts regarding the relationship between AIPAC and the politicians of both parties are: 1. Almost all the politicians regardless of which party they belong to closely follow instructions from AIPAC; 2. Politicians who show disobedience to AIPAC usually pay a stiff political price; 3. AIPAC has such a grip on the politicians that they routinely put the interests of Israel above the interests of the US; 4. The media rarely if ever reports on these important facts.

Remember when Howard Dean wanted to be the presidential nominee for the Democratic Party? He made the political mistake of saying the US should have a balanced foreign policy for the Middle East. He was instantly attacked by Democrats and Republicans alike! Nancy Pelosi wrote a scathing open letter to Dean stating among other things, "American foreign policy has been -- and must continue to be -- based on unequivocal support for Israel's right to exist and to be free from terror . . . . It is unacceptable for the U.S. to be 'evenhanded' on these fundamental issues . . . ." (As Michael Scheuer points out in his outstanding book Imperial Hubris - Why America is Losing the War on Terror, do Americans really want to put Israel's interests before our own? Are we willing to spend BILLIONS of dollars each and every year and lose the lives of thousands of Americans for Israel?) It wasn't long after Dean's statement calling for an evenhanded US policy in the Middle East that the media ran and continually reran the clip of Dean appearing like a lunatic shouting and yelling during one of his campaign rallies. He was soon out of the race. As Salon.com wrote regarding Dean's situation, '. . . it proves that not showing unequivocal support for the Jewish state remains a political poison pill -- for members of either political party.'

The self-serving politicians of both parties get the message loud and clear! In fact, they fight each other as to who favors Israel the most! And it doesn't matter what Israel is doing, the 'US' Congress will support the Jewish state! For example, after they invaded Lebanon this past summer, the 'US' Senate unanimously passed a resolution blindly supporting the state terrorist acts of Israel against its neighbor while the 'US' House of Representatives passed a similar pro-Israel resolution by a vote of 410 to 8! (I'm sure those eight are anti-Semites! LOL!) Since Israel's invasion of Lebanon resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians which the Israeli military killed using US weapons given to them by US taxpayers via their elected officials, US weapons such as cluster-bombs that the UN is still trying to clean up, I'm sure we've added a few thousand more Islamic people who are ready to launch attacks against the US to al Qaeda's list of volunteers!

In America we like to pretend we have a 'free press' that allows us to get all sides to important issues. Of course, reality is much different! When is the last time you watched a media report on the excessive influence AIPAC has over the plutocrats in Congress and the White House? This has been an important and dangerous reality for the last 20 to 30 years, but I've never seen the media report on it in any meaningful way. With all that is going on now with AIPAC having pushed their kosher politicians to bring America into war in Iraq and with AIPAC and Israel now pushing these same moral cowards for a US war with Iran and Syria, it is of paramount importance that AIPAC and their political whores be throughly exposed to the American people.

This silence on the part of the media makes it painfully clear that the media is in the pocket of AIPAC and Israel. Actions, and inactions, speak much louder than words. Perhaps if the media had done their job as a truly free-press over the last few decades and reported to the American people how twisted US policy is in favor of Israel, 9/11 could have been averted.

Another issue that involves the media being biased in favor of Israel is Israel's possession of real Weapons of Mass Destruction. In Seymour Hersh's revealing book about Israel's nuclear arsenal, The Sampson Option, he documents how Israel deceived the US regarding its development and possession of nuclear bombs. Just the other day, Israel's Prime Minister stated, 'Can you say that this is the same level when they (Iran) are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as America, France, Israel, Russia?' He admits that Israel has nukes, yet the American 'free press' does virtually nothing! However, the media is very good at confronting Iran in its efforts to acquire nuclear power, which it claims is only for peaceful purposes. Why the double standard? Those masquerading as journalists should be honest with themselves and either write and broadcast what is going on or find other careers.

I've noticed the media toeing the Israeli line regarding the conclusion of the Iraq Study Group that ending the Palestinian subjugation by Israel is key to solving the violence in the Middle East. The Iraq Study Group is not the only ones who realize this. In his book Imperial Hubris, former CIA specialist on Osama bin Laden Michael Scheuer said the same thing. However, Israel doesn't want this fact to be known, and already pro-Israel 'journalists' are belittling this important part of the Middle East equation.

One of the reasons former US President Jimmy Carter wrote his interesting and informative book Palestine Peace Not Apartheid was to let people know there is actually another side to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict besides the Jewish side.

When asked why he wrote the book that is being attacked by the media, politicians and Jews, he said it was to give people a different point of view from what they're used to. In other words, the media is not giving us an accurate picture of what is actually going on in Palestine. And the Kosher Iron Curtain we live behind is not allowing us any picture of what is actually going on regarding the blind and ignorant support of Israel that the politicians give in our name.
