Lies + Half Truths = Presidential Speech

Exclusive to STR

When President Bush recently made a speech promoting the war in Iraq and the war against Osama bin Laden, he, as government bureaucrats and plutocrats habitually do, repeatedly lied. Just as he and his fellow plutocrats and career governmental officials gave speeches packed full of lies and half-truths to get the unnecessary war started in Iraq over three long years ago, so Bush used the same successful technique when he gave his most recent pro-war speech. He must believe in the old adage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Lies work!

As usual, he tried to paint bin Laden and his holy jihad as an aberration of Islam. He said the ideology of al Qaeda is 'very different from the religion of Islam.' I know Bush doesn't like to read (except speeches), so maybe he's not aware that the holy book of Islam contains the following verses. Surah 2:216 states, 'Warfare is ordained for you, . . .' Again, in Surah 4:76 we find another call to holy violence against non-Muslims. It reads, 'Those who believe do battle for the cause of Allah; and those who disbelieve do battle for the cause of idols. So fight the minions of the devil.' There are many more such calls to violence against 'non-believers' in Islam's word of God.

One thing that sets Islam above its parent religions of Judaism and Christianity, and which sets bin Laden above George Bush, is that Islam teaches its followers not to throw the first punch. Surah 2:190 instructs, 'Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.' Actually, if you think about it, if everyone on earth followed this teaching from the Quarn warfare would end.

George rambled on in his halting way as he read the speech that was written for him. He went on to state his next lie. He said, 'First, these extremists want to end American and Western influence in the broader Middle East, because we stand for democracy and peace, . . ' If you read what bin Laden wrote in his letter to America, which the media/government has covered up, you'll see this is not true. According to bin Laden, the jihad they are waging against the US is a DEFENSIVE jihad, which is in accordance with the above teaching from the Quarn. Osama believes it's a defensive jihad for many reasons, with the primary reason being our blind support of Israel that has cost Muslims so many lives.

The next lie George told was, 'No act of ours invited the rage of the killers -- and no concession, bribe, or act of appeasement would change or limit their plans for murder.' This is proven to be a lie by the above mentioned letter to America that bin Laden wrote. George also stated in the same paragraph, 'In fact, we're not facing a set of grievances that can be soothed and addressed.' I'm sure the government knows that the overwhelming majority of people have never read bin Laden's letter to America or even know that it exists. It's easy to lie and get away with it when you're talking to someone who chooses not to be inquisitive about very important life and death matters.

This next statement about bin Laden by Boy George is hilarious. He said/read, 'And what this man who grew up in wealth and privilege considers good for poor Muslims is that they become killers and suicide bombers. He assures them that his -- that this is the road to paradise -- though he never offers to go along for the ride.' Can you believe it! The audacity! Talk about growing up in wealth and privilege! George is an expert at it! He likes to play the part of a Texas cowboy, but, truth be told, he lives in Texas because his wealthy family moved there for tax purposes!

They weren't pioneers by any stretch of the imagination! And what George considers good for average young Americans is that they become RPG fodder for the good of the plutocrats and their political careers! And, of course, George has never offered to go along for the ride! Compared to bin Laden, George is a hypocritical rank coward and war pig. At least bin Laden saw combat when he was fighting against the Soviet occupation of the Islamic nation of Afghanistan in the 1980s. When it was time for George to show how idealistic and courageous he was, he dodged combat with the help of his wealthy and privileged family.

When the US brass came to tell Congress how the occupation of Iraq was going, it was disclosed that the number of Iraqi battalions that were combat ready had actually dropped from three to only one. Does this fact bother George II??? Of course not! He simply clouded the water with a half truth. He said/read, 'Today there are more than 80 Iraqi army battalions fighting the insurgency alongside our forces. Progress isn't easy, but it is steady.' That doesn't sound to 'steady' to me, going from three to one combat ready battalion. As the number of dead Americans in Iraq climbs STEADILY to 2,000, the American people hopefully will continue its opposition to the slaughter with more street protests and other resistence actions.

Another tragically funny statement he made in the speech was that part of the US strategy is to 'deny the militants future recruits.' LOL! As the author of the outstanding book Imperial Hubris, Michael Scheuer, said, Iraq was a huge Christmas gift from Bush to bin Laden! Scheuer was the CIA's expert on bin Laden. He knew that Bush's war in Iraq could only serve the interests of al Qaida by generating not only new recruits to fight against the US, but on the job training for them as well!

It turns my stomach every time I see Bush pretending on the television. His entire life is pretend. He dresses up as a cowboy or as a fighter pilot and puffs up his enormous ego. And in the mean time, people die for real.
