Churchill County, Nevada came out strong in this past election for both reelecting George W. Bush and for keeping its brothels legal. To many, this seems like a contradiction. Voters who took part in this past election made a point of stressing how important values are to them.  President Bush, who says his favorite book is the Bible and that he reads it daily, appealed to voters because he appears to champion their strong values of Judeo-Christianity.  Bush received 71% of the vote in Nevada. The voters also voted by a two to one margin to keep prostitution legal. So how can their Biblical values be reconciled to their endorsement of legal brothels and prostitution?

Taking a look at the Bible, where the powerful Judeo-Christian values originate, prostitution and pimping both seem to receive approval based on example. The patriarch of all three major revealed religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, is Abraham. Father Abraham was a pimp who pimped his wife Sarah. If the best teaching is done by setting examples, it appears the Bible god wants us to be pimps and whores in the Biblical sense, based on the fine example given to us by Abraham and Sarah!

Abraham and Sarah, aka Abram and Sarai, the Holy Scriptures tell us in Genesis 12:9, were on their way into Egypt. As they approached Egypt, Abraham told Sarah that she was a knockout bitch and he was going to pimp her ass to the Egyptians (Genesis 11-13). His motivation for this was not just greed, but fear. He was afraid if the Egyptians knew this beautiful woman was married to him, they’d kill him to have her. He told her to pretend she was his sister. I guess he didn’t have much faith in the Bible god coming to his rescue!

As the Bible story goes, the Egyptian princes saw how stunningly beautiful she was and told Pharaoh about her. Pharaoh was very impressed with Sarah’s beauty and she “was taken into Pharaoh’s house.” (Genesis 12:15) Pharaoh was so pleased with her, he gave Abraham, who in Pharaoh’s mind was her brother, payment for her in the form of “sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.” (Genesis 12:16)

I don’t know if George W. Bush and his values-based supporters read this part of the Bible. If they do, then the voters' decision to support both Bush and brothels makes more sense.

But the voters who voted for Bush and prostitution are about to be screwed by their local government. Even though this is a democracy and the government only wants to do the will of the people (LOL!), the Churchill County Commission is attempting to raise the fees brothels pay to ten times what they currently are.  This will effectively put legal brothels out of business, and will go directly against the desires of the values voters.

The “reasoning” of the government officials appears to be Biblically inspired, based on the fact that there is no reason involved. The government puts all kinds of restrictions and rules on the brothels, and then claims, because of all the governmentally required rules and regulations that the government itself  imposes on the brothels, the costs of ensuring that those rules and regulations are being followed demands the increase in fees to the government to do it! That’s like the mafia selling protection to business owners, only the mob is of a much higher caliber than the government because they don’t play the hypocrisy game.

The Bible’s mixed signals on sexual issues make natural acts seem dirty and bad on one hand, and seem to give approval on the other. Before the dark advent of the Biblical curtain over our minds, lives, and society, people looked at sex as what it is, a natural impulse and act. But “revealed” religions/governments, like all cults, need to control the lives of their subjects. That is why most of our natural acts, like our diets as well as our sex lives, are the targets of religions.  By casting its net over functions that are an important and necessary part of everyone’s life, they are sure to control us. By dictating what we can eat and what we can’t eat as in the kosher laws of the Jews and Moslems, to not eating meat on Fridays as was done in the Catholic Church, to telling us we should have sex only to produce children, or, as was the case with Abraham and Sarah, to produce a huge profit, the religions pervert the lives of BILLIONS of innocent misled victims. The only way to break the chains of superstition-based laws and customs is with the beautifully simple reason and nature.
