Attorney for Freedom by Mike Wasdin What’s
the difference between a dead skunk and a dead lawyer in the middle of the
road? The skunk has skid marks in front of it! Okay, so we all have heard
the jokes before, and some of them I’m sure are well deserved; truth is,
most lawyers are scum. Most of them simply get paid to walk you through
the system. I
have always been a firm believer that when someone does something that
rises above the stereotypical norm that exists in society, they should be
recognized for it. I have a good friend who is a criminal defense attorney
in
Marc
also has the distinction of being the shortest-lived pro-tem
judge in the history of Arizona. Earlier this year, he was kicked off
the bench for recusing himself from drug cases based on his libertarian
beliefs. As a member of the legal committee of NORML,
he based his recusal on strong, principled beliefs that people should be
free to live their lives as they choose. When
you turn the business card over, you will notice something unique on the
back. It is a friendly reminder to yourself of the only thing you should
say to any “law enforcement” officer you may encounter.
This statement is what you will read to a “law enforcement”
officer if you should find yourself in one of their clutches. “I
refuse to consent to any search whatsoever. As such, I do not consent to a
search of my premises, my person, my immediate location or any vehicle or
effects. I hereby exercise my rights as enumerated by the Fourth, Fifth,
Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and
Article Two of the Arizona Constitution. I demand to have an attorney
present prior to and throughout any questioning at all. Additionally,
I wish to consult with my attorney prior to any discussion with law
enforcement officers on the subject of waiver.” I
know what most everyone is thinking: “I will never need a lawyer.” I
can understand that kind of thinking, but trust me, he is not the Maytag
repairman, and you will need him one day! I know this personally because
he freed me from the beast a few years ago. Marc
is a true freedom fighter who makes his living off fighting the government
leviathan. He takes a personal interest in freeing you from the grip of
the beast, but Marc does more than fight the bad guys for a living; he
fights them in his free time as well. As co-founder of the Freedom
Summit, an annual symposium on the prospects of freedom in our
lifetime, Marc along with long time freedom fighter Ernie
Hancock have teamed up to bring together some of the best minds in the
freedom movement today. Be sure to look at the Freedom Summit website for
who has spoken at past events, and who will be at the next one. As
well as the Freedom Summit, he has also been asked to speak at many
freedom events such as the Eris
Society and the Future of Freedom
Foundation, just to name a few. He has battled the government on many
fronts, and you will experience just how heinous the beast can be as you
read one of his eye-opening articles such as My
Contribution to Science, Don’t
Be Your Worst Enemy or one of the others you will find on his website. He
has also written many articles for websites such as Strike
The Root and Lew
Rockwell, which gives the reader an insight into his world of
defending freedom against an immoral government. There
are many attorneys who you can hire to fight for you, but wouldn’t it be
nice to know that your attorney is an attorney for freedom? Did you hear the one about Mike Wasdin and Marc Victor on the side of the road in handcuffs? I will save that joke for another time. I am proud to have a friend like Marc Victor, the attorney for freedom! discuss this column in the forum Mike Wasdin is an Anarcho-Capitalist from Phoenix, Arizona. He also moderates an anti-government website on Yahoo. |
