Terrorism Charges Against RNC Eight Will Be Dropped
“The
Ramsey County Attorney’s Office is preparing to drop terrorism charges
against the so-called RNC Eight, according to a source close to discussions
about the high-profile prosecutions. The group of activists, who have been
accused of a criminal conspiracy to disrupt the Republican National
Convention, will still face felony charges of criminal conspiracy to riot and
damage property.” Maybe the Attorney’s Office is realizing that not
everything is terrorism.

Porno Teaches Maryland a Valuable Lesson
“There are a whole host of little lessons one learns when working in First Amendment law: What is vulgar to one person might be poetic to another, occasional offense is a small price to pay for a pluralistic democracy, without a free press there can be no meaningful democratic process, etc.”

Anti-US Demo Six Years After Saddam Statue Toppled
“Thousands of supporters of the anti-US cleric Moqtada al-Sadr on Thursday protested the occupation of Iraq, six years after the toppling of a Saddam Hussein statue symbolised the fall of his regime.”
The Criminalization of a Generation
“This past weekend, for example, I read a story about 'sexting.' For those that don't know, sexting is using text messaging for sexual material. A contributor to The Urban Dictionary has this to say about the word, 'a word that the media made up after some Greensburg Salem school district's principals invaded the students privacy by taking their phone and then felt the need to go through the students messages and then reported it to the police.'”
As a child, I had a creek in my backyard. My younger brother and I practically lived at this creek, and the minute perfection of a baby crawdad held in my palm elicited one of my earliest moments of wonder. The creek was an ever changing constant. It could shrink to a mere trickle in a dry summer or burst from its bank after a heavy spring rain with a current that begged attempts at rafting. It was a refuge, my chief source of entertainment, an interactive zoological exhibit, a place to play with like-minded adventurous friends, and a great source of snakes.
Rudd’s Package Stimulating Your Economy?
“So the cheques are in the mail, K Rudd has chosen to stimulate thousands of Australians with hard, hard cash. Which all in all is a pretty typical response by politicians in recession. I mean his last stimulus package didn’t really do anything, and in the infamous reasoning that has made the politician infamous, and not to mention entirely worth his three hundred thousand dollar salary, K Rudd’s decide that we need to do the same thing again, just on a grander scale.”
