The Power to Get Away With It

Recommended  "Libertarians engaging in a political campaign to have someone elected have from my point of view given up their claim on liberty; they are no longer striving for liberty as number one, but are working to give someone power to liberate them. Is this really a way forward? Is it to love liberty to give it up?"  Column by Per Bylund.

It's Gross Hypocrisy

“It's politics as usual, and that's sad, because we're at a turning point in '08. If we continue with American imperialism, we're done as a nation. Truly are....The Republicans and Bush. Lump them together. You've got boiling water. You take a frog, you throw him in the water, and the frog jumps out. You get the Democrats. You get tepid water. You put the frog in the water, and you turn the heat up slowly, and you cook the frog, and nobody knows the difference.” Mr. Gravel surely knows he is done...a politician never speaks the truth when they can continue to take advantage of the system of lies.

Sderot Comes Under Fire, Again

“Gazans greeted US President George W. Bush with more than a dozen Kassam rockets and mortar shells on Wednesday, including one instance in which a mother and baby narrowly escaped death as a rocket slammed in to the Sderot house in which they were staying....The officials predicted that the Palestinians would continue to fire Kassam rockets at the western Negev throughout Bush's visit, which ends on Friday.” A popular guy, our Fuhrer.

Iran Accuses U.S. of Faking Persian Gulf Video

"“Images released by the U.S. Department of Defense about the Navy vessels were made from file pictures, and the audio was fabricated,” an unnamed Revolutionary Guard official said, according to Fars, which has close links to the Revolutionary Guard. It was the first time Iran had commented on the video that the Pentagon released Tuesday.”(Free Reg. Req.) Hard to know which of these criminal organizations is lying this time...our government surely doesn't have a stellar reputation for truthfulness, especially when determined to manufacture a reason for war.

Fifth Fleet Unsure Threat to US Warships Was Iranian

"'There is no way to know where this (radioed threat) exactly came from. It could have come from the shore...or another vessel in the area,' Lieutenant John Gay told AFP by telephone." Not quite the way it has been portrayed in the screaming headlines of the past couple days...the ones that have already worked their magic on the ten second soundbite sheeple.

'A Heartbeat Away' From War With Iran and Pakistan

“As the American people amuse themselves with the illusion that they have any say in the way they are presently governed, our rulers are moving toward war. Two recent incidents underscore the imminence of this prospect.”

The 'Good Good War' Is a Bad War

“The truth about the 'good war' is to be found in compelling evidence that the 2001 invasion, widely supported in the west as a justifiable response to the 11 September attacks, was actually planned two months prior to 9/11 and that the most pressing problem for Washington was not the Taliban's links with Osama Bin Laden, but the prospect of the Taliban mullahs losing control of Afghanistan to less reliable mujahedin factions, led by warlords who had been funded and armed by the CIA to fight America's proxy war against the Soviet occupiers in the 1980s." Oh what a tangled web we allow these “leaders” to weave.

Ex-Official Wants Immunity in Tape Case

“Attorneys for Jose Rodriguez told Congress the former CIA official won't testify about the destruction of CIA videotapes without a promise of immunity, two people close to the tapes inquiry said Wednesday.”

Air Controllers Say Staffing Too Short

“Experienced air traffic controllers are retiring faster this year than the government projected and their union said Wednesday the remaining veterans can no longer safely handle peak volumes in Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Southern California....Forrey has said before that the Federal Aviation Administration is eroding the safety margin for air travelers, but he went further: 'We have so few veteran controllers left that we cannot safely handle the volume of aircraft into these major areas during the busiest periods of the day'." Seems they could use some of the funds they devote to Gestapo to hassle us at the airport towards real safety concerns...like air traffic controllers...but, since there isn't the same fear-mongering potential in that sort of precaution, it isn't very likely.

Freedom of Speech and H.R. 1955

“Plain rectangular caskets are so passé. For the past four decades, the Ga tribe in Ghana have celebrated the deceased by designing 'fantasy coffins'.”
